SDOT is advising travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city that may affect area traffic. Both directions of State Route 99/Aurora Avenue North will close to traffic Sunday morning, March 4, for the annual Hot Chocolate Run. Emerald City Comic Con is at the Washington State Convention Center Thursday through Sunday. Seattle Sounders FC play Thursday night and Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field, Go Sounders!
THURSDAY, MARCH 1:
PAC-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament at KeyArena. Please see website for game times. About 8,000 people are expected to attend each game.
Seattle Sounders vs. Santa Tecla FC at 7 p.m. at CenturyLink Field. About 25,000 people are expected to attend.
Herbie Hancock Concert at McCaw Hall is at 7:30 p.m. About 2,500 people are expected to attend.
THURSDAY, MARCH 1 – SUNDAY, MARCH 4:
Emerald City Comic Con at the Washington State Convention Center. Hours are 10 a.m. to midnight, Thursday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. About 20,000 people are expected to attend each day. Please plan for added volumes of people in and around the Convention Center.
SATURDAY, MARCH 3 – SUNDAY, MARCH 4:
Outdoor Gear & Adventure Expo, Seattle Bike Show, Seattle Golf & Travel Show, are at the CenturyLink Field Event Center. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. About 3,500 people are expected to attend each day.
SUNDAY, MARCH 5:
Hot Chocolate 15K/5K: The Run starts and finishes at the Seattle Center. Route will use 2nd Ave. N, Broad St, Elliott Ave, Western Ave, SR99, Harrison St, Dexter Ave. N, and 5th Ave. N. (Expected street closures are from about 6:15 a.m. – 11:25 a.m.) Both directions of State Route 99/Aurora Avenue North in Seattle will close to traffic Sunday morning. About 11,500 people are expected to participate.
What to expect:
- The route will close the Aurora Avenue Bridge and the Battery Street Tunnel starting at 6 a.m.
- 6 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. – The southbound lanes of SR 99 will be closed between N 38th St and the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel.
- 6 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. – The northbound lanes of SR 99 will be closed between the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel and N 48th St.
Seattle Sounders vs. Los Angeles Football Club at 2 p.m. at CenturyLink Field. About 40,000 people are expected to attend.
March 3: SDOT Crews will be closing the northbound curb lane of 15th Ave NW and NW 85th St to replace concrete panels from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
March 3 – 4: 1st Ave S will be closed in both directions between Yesler Way and S Jackson St.
