SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events in the city that may affect traffic. The annual Macy’s Holiday Parade is on Friday morning in downtown Seattle. The Holiday Tree Lighting is Friday night also downtown. The UW Huskies host WSU in the Apple Cup on Saturday evening at Husky stadium. The Seattle Marathon starts and finishes at Seattle Center with the race route through Seward Park on Sunday morning. Please note freeway off-ramp closures due to the Holiday Parade and the Seattle Marathon.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22:
Kid Cudi Concert at WaMu Theater at CenturyLink Field at 9 p.m. Doors open at 8 p.m. About 7,200 people are expected to attend.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23:
Seattle Turkey Trot: A 5K run/walk in Ballard starts at 9 a.m. at NW 85th St and 32nd Ave NW and finishes in Golden Gardens Park via Seaview Ave NW. About 4,500 people are expected to participate.
Montlake 5K Turkey Trot & Kids Run: Starts at 9:30 a.m. at E Lynn St and 25th Ave E and continues through the Arboretum Loop Trail. About 900 people are expected to participate.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 24:
My Macy’s Holiday Parade: The 27th annual holiday parade starts at 9 a.m. at 7th Ave and Pine St, travels south on 5th Ave to University St and north on 4th to Pine St. About 20,000 people are expected to attend. Due to congestion during the parade, the southbound I-5 off-ramp to Union St will be closed from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Macy’s Starlighting & Fireworks Show: Holiday Tree Lighting and lighting of the Macy’s Star with fireworks. Program begins at 4 p.m. on Pine St between 4th and 5th Avenues. About 15,000 people are expected to attend.
Pacific Northwest Ballet’s The Nutcracker at 7:30 p.m. at McCaw Hall. About 2,900 people are expected to attend each performance.
Illenium Concert at WaMu Theater at CenturyLink Field at 8 p.m. About 7,200 people are expected to attend.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25:
Seattle Children’s Kids Marathon: Run starts at 5th Ave and Harrison St at 10 a.m. Route goes around Seattle Center: south on Broad St, west on Denny Way, north on 2nd Ave N, east on Mercer St and finishes at Memorial Stadium. About 2,400 people are expected to participate.
Pacific Northwest Ballet’s The Nutcracker at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at McCaw Hall. About 2,900 people are expected to attend each performance.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra Performances at KeyArena at 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. About 8,000 people are expected to attend each show.
Washington Huskies host Washington State in the 110th annual Apple Cup at 5 p.m. at Husky Stadium. About 70,000 people are expected to attend.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26:
Seattle Marathon: Full and Half Marathons start and finish at Seattle Center beginning at 7:15 a.m. Race courses use city streets including 5th Ave, S King St, Lake Washington Blvd, Lakeview Blvd, Dexter Ave N and Mercer St. About 9,000 people are expected to participate. Freeway ramps to be closed during the race:
- Northbound I-5 off-ramp to Lakeview Blvd closed 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Westbound Mercer St two left-turn lanes to southbound Fairview Ave N closed 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- I-5 Express Lanes exit to 5th Ave/Columbia St. closed 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Westbound SR-520 off-ramp to Roanoke St closed 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
