SDOT advises travelers that Denny Way will be closed between Stewart St and Fairview Ave this weekend from October 14 – 17 for work on Seattle City Light’s (SCL) Denny Substation Project. After the weekend closure, Denny Way will be reduced to one lane in each direction for five weeks as work on the substation continues. Please plan ahead for potential delays.
From 11 p.m. on Friday, October 14, to 5 a.m. on Monday, October 17, travelers can expect:
- All lanes of Denny Way to be closed between Stewart St and Fairview Ave so crews can restripe the roadway.
- Starting on Monday, October 17, for approximately five weeks: Denny Way between Stewart St and Minor Ave N will be reduced to one lane in each direction 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
Crews working for SCL will be constructing utilities on Denny Way adjacent to the substation site. Access to I-5 South from Yale Avenue will be maintained but drivers should expect additional delays. Seattle City Light encourages drivers to avoid the Stewart Street exit from southbound I-5 during this time.
