Northbound traffic on 1st Ave S, just north of S Royal Brougham Way, will be reduced to a single lane on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, July 6 – 7, in order to install a dynamic message sign (DMS) which will extend over the northbound lanes. The lane reduction will begin at 7 p.m., with the travel lanes fully restored by 5 a.m. the following mornings. On-street parking on the east side of 1st Ave S in the immediate vicinity will also be prohibited while the work is taking place. There are no scheduled sports or concert events at CenturyLink or Safeco Field on those evenings.
These signs provide motorists with information about congestion, road blocking collisions, expected travel times to key destinations, construction impacts, and large upcoming events likely to impact traffic. This DMS sign is one of five being installed as part of this project. Another DMS sign will be installed later in July above the northbound travel lanes of 4th Ave S, south of Seattle Boulevard South.
