Street closures for security zone near Westin Hotel
SDOT reminds travelers that President Barack Obama will visit the city this weekend, from Friday, June 24 to Saturday, June 25. Due to the presidential visit, travelers in and around Seattle should expect delays on city streets, especially in downtown, and rolling slowdowns on area highways throughout this timeframe.
For security purposes, law enforcement agencies will create a security zone in the vicinity of the Westin Hotel. For information on street closures and details about entering this security zone during the president’s visit, please visit the Seattle Police Department (SPD) website at: http://spdblotter.seattle.gov/2016/06/22/traffic-impacts-expected-this-weekend-for-pride-presidential-visit/
To avoid visit related traffic issues, travelers should avoid nonessential downtown trips on Friday or Saturday if possible, especially in the vicinity of the closed streets. Drivers should also expect parking restrictions near the security zone and the Washington State Convention Center. The South Lake Union Streetcar will continue to operate, but the stop at the Westlake Hub at McGraw Square will remain closed.
