SEATTLE – The Seattle Department of Transportation will close Sand Point Way NE to all traffic in the 8500 block of Sand Point Way NE beginning Monday morning February 8, 2016. Vehicles will be detoured from Sand Point Way NE to 35th Avenue NE at NE 95th Street and at NE 70th Street. Sand Point Way NE will remain open for local access between the 8500 block and NE 95th Street and between the 8500 block and NE 75th Street, but no traffic will be possible through the construction zone in the 8500 block of Sand Point Way itself.
The closure, and related detour, is required for emergency replacement of a retaining wall within the city right-of-way. This full closure is expected to last 4 weeks, and will be followed by a closure of the northbound vehicular lanes for another 4 weeks (until approximately April 1). For more information on this project please visit http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/sandpoint_retainingwall.htm.
The Burke-Gilman Trail, paralleling Sand Point Way, will not be affected by this closure. Please refer to http://metro.kingcounty.gov/alerts/ for information on Metro Route #75.
