The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers to be aware of a curb lane closure on southbound Westlake Ave at John Street for repair work beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan.26.
The southbound right lane will be closed while crews will replace a drainage grate and frame between the South Lake Union Trolley tracks, and hope to be completed by early afternoon.
Trolley operations are expected to run normally with a possible singular brief interruption lasting about two minutes. SDOT crews will relocate every 15 minutes to allow the trolley to pass. Crews will be working on Westlake Avenue just north of John to about midblock south of John. Seattle Police will be on site to assist with traffic control in the intersection.
Residents may hear noise for about one hour while crews remove the old frame. After that, the construction noise will continue but won’t be as loud while crews operate a generator, an air compressor, and small power tools. A noise variance has been approved for this work. Crews hope to keep any inconvenience to a minimum.
