Seattle Department of Transportation’s Urban Forestry crews will be pruning trees along Stewart Street the next several weeks, starting Tuesday, Oct. 14. Pruning begins between John Street and Denny Way Tuesday and Wednesday, closing the southwest-bound curb lane from 9 a.m. to 3p.m.
By Thursday of next week, tree pruning is expected to shift to the area between Denny Way and Yale Avenue, moving the Stewart Street lane closure to the northeast- bound side of the street.
Tree crews will continue southwest down Stewart in the coming weeks, expecting to trim all street trees along the roadway as far as Sixth Avenue by Mid-November. Standard work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to limit impacts to commuters.
SDOT Street Tree crews prune hundreds of Seattle trees each year, with a focus on safety and maintaining visibility.
