The Seattle Department of Transportation advises travelers of the following activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area:
Lane restrictions on southbound Dexter Avenue North between Roy and Mercer streets, Sept. 22-26
Southbound Dexter Avenue North will be restricted to one lane between Roy and Mercer streets for underground sewer work next week, weather permitting. This restriction will be in place 24 hours a day, Monday to Wednesday, Sept. 22 to Sept. 24; and at night — from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. — from Thursday, Sept. 25 to Friday, Sept. 26. Bicyclists will be required to merge with vehicular traffic. Please plan ahead and expect traffic delays.
Pedestrian changes on Mercer Street at Fifth Avenue North beginning Sept. 22
Beginning the morning of Monday, Sept. 22, the sidewalk at the southeast corner of Mercer Street and Fifth Avenue North will be closed to pedestrians for approximately three weeks for sidewalk restoration. Crosswalks on the north and west sides of the intersection will be open; on the south and east sides they will be closed. A new crosswalk will open on Mercer Street at Taylor Avenue North to facilitate east-west travel on Mercer between Fifth and Dexter Avenue North.
Intermittent right lane closure on northbound Fifth Avenue North between Republican and Mercer streets beginning September 22
The northbound right lane of Fifth Avenue North between Mercer and Republican streets will be closed daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for approximately three weeks beginning Monday, Sept. 22 to accommodate sidewalk work. One northbound lane will remain open at all times. Right turns from northbound Fifth onto eastbound Mercer Street will remain open.
As a reminder, please be aware of the following closures throughout the work zone:
- Northbound Taylor Avenue North will remain closed between Mercer and Roy streets through September as crews complete water line connections in the roadway. Southbound Taylor will remain open.
- Southbound right lane on Fifth Avenue North between Mercer and Republican streets is closed Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for approximately three weeks to accommodate electrical work. One lane in each direction on Fifth will remain open.
- Intermittent lane closures on Mercer Street between First Avenue North and Ninth Avenue North between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. One lane on westbound and eastbound Mercer Street will remain open.
- Intermittent lane closures on Roy Street between Fifth Avenue North and Queen Anne Avenue North between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. These will be implemented as needed to accommodate final construction activities within the work zone. Please pay attention to flaggers stationed in the roadway.
