The Seattle Department of Transportation is filling cracks and joints and doing layout work along the east side of Second Avenue between Pike Street and Yesler Way this weekend. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Aug. 16 and 17. The pavement repairs will make it safer and more comfortable for people riding bikes when the Second Avenue Protected Bike Lane Demonstration Project opens in early September.
No parking or loading will be allowed on the east side during work hours and the current bike lane will be closed. People biking will be detoured into the general travel lane with motorists. The travel lane next to the bike lane will be closed one block at a time while repairs are made.
