Street paving will be underway this weekend in three (now two) places downtown.

Third Avenue from Union to Seneca, and from Cherry to Yesler–Roadway Structures crews from the Seattle Department of Transportation will close Third Avenue between Union and Seneca streets, and between Cherry Street and Yesler Way, to repair the pavement. The crews plan to close these street segments on Saturday, July 12 at 6 a.m. and reopen them on Monday July 14 no later than 6 a.m. after allowing time for the concrete to cure. Cross streets, sidewalks and the bus tunnel will remain open. For alternate routes, drivers may use Second Avenue to travel southbound, and Fourth Avenue for northbound travel. The work is needed to repair the concrete around vents above the Third Avenue bus tunnel.
Seneca Street from Sixth to Seventh avenues–Paving crews from the Seattle Department of Transportation will grind and pave Seneca Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues on Saturday, July 12th, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. One lane will remain open on this one-way street. A Police Officer will assist traffic.
(Work at this third location has been canceded) Third Avenue and Cedar Street–A private contractor will grind and pave the intersection of Third Avenue and Cedar Street on July 12. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction at this location on Third.
