Painting of the Fourth Avenue South Bridge over the Argo Railroad Yard in SODO will be completed this weekend, Sunday, June 8th. Crews are scheduled to work from 7 a.m. until noon , although it is likely they will not need all of this time. Painting of the bridge traffic railings has been rescheduled several times due to expected rainfall.
Crews will paint the railing on one side of the bridge before moving to the opposite side, keeping three of the four bridge lanes open to traffic during the closure. Working from a pickup truck in the curb lane, only short sections of the impacted travel lane will be closed at any one time.
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is repainting this bridge, as well as the First Avenue South Bridge over the same Argo Railroad Yard as part of the City’s ongoing asset preservation effort that provides for the periodic painting of each of the City’s structural steel bridges.
