The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) reminds travelers of construction activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area the weekend of Saturday, March 29, through Sunday, March 30. Travelers can expect significant traffic and delays, and should plan ahead and use alternate routes.

Beginning the morning of Saturday, March 29, at 4:00 a.m. through Sunday, March 30, at 6:00 p.m., northbound Fifth Avenue N will be closed to traffic between Mercer and Republican streets to accommodate underground utility work. During this work:

• Northbound Fifth Avenue N will be restricted between Mercer and Republican streets. Travelers heading north on Fifth Avenue N will be detoured to westbound Republican Street and Fourth Avenue N in order to reconnect with Fifth Avenue N via eastbound Mercer Street.
• Southbound Fifth Avenue N will be restricted to one lane between Roy and Republican streets. One southbound lane will be maintained at all times.
• Parking adjacent to the work zone will be restricted.
• Local access to businesses and properties will be maintained at all times.
• Uniformed police officers will be stationed throughout the work zone to facilitate traffic flow.
• Travelers heading towards Queen Anne and Seattle Center from I-5 or downtown should use westbound Broad Street and Denny Way to northbound First Avenue N as alternate routes.
• Travelers heading toward I-5 or downtown from Queen Anne should use Queen Anne Avenue N to Denny Way or Taylor Avenue N to Mercer Street as alternate routes.
• Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. Early warning signs will be available in advance of all detours.
