The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will close eastbound and westbound South Jackson Street between Second Avenue South and Second Avenue Extension South from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. This closure is for asphalt paving work associated with the First Hill Streetcar Project. Police officers and traffic flaggers will be present to ensure access to businesses and residences in the area and the following detours will be provided:
Eastbound traffic on South Jackson Street will be directed:
North on Second Avenue South to South Main Street
East on South Main Street to Second Avenue Extension South
South on Second Avenue Extension South to South Jackson Street
Westbound traffic on South
Jackson Street will be directed:
North on Fourth
Avenue South to Prefontaine Place South
Northwest on Prefontaine Place South to Yesler Way
West on Yesler Wayto First Avenue South
South on First Avenue South to South Jackson Street
When complete, the First Hill Streetcar Line will have ten stations along a two and one-half mile route from South Jackson Street and Occidental Avenue South to Broadway and Denny Way. The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan.
