As previously announced, The Seattle Department of Transportation will close the intersection of East Jefferson Street and Broadway in the First Hill Neighborhood this weekend, Feb. 15-16 for work on the First Hill Streetcar project. However, due to an unfavorable weather forecast, two other closures have been canceled—one at the intersections of Broadway and James Street, and the other at the intersection of Broadway and Boren Avenue.
The intersection of Jefferson Street and Broadway will be fully closed to traffic on Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. each day for overhead electrical installations. This closure is required for overhead electrical installations associated with the First Hill Streetcar project. Police officers and flaggers will be present to ensure access to businesses and residences in the area. All crosswalks will remain open.
The following detours will be provided:
- Northbound traffic on Broadway will be directed north-west on Boren Avenue to James Street then east on James Street to Broadway.
- Southbound traffic on Broadway will be directed west on James Street to Boren Avenue then southeast on Boren Avenue to Broadway.
- Eastbound traffic on Jefferson Street will be directed northwest on Boren Avenue to James Street, east on James Street/East James Way/East Cherry Street to 12th Avenue then south on 12th Avenue to East Jefferson Street.
- Westbound traffic on East Jefferson street will be directed north on 12th Avenue to East Cherry Street, west on East Cherry Street/East James Way/James Street, to Boren Avenue then southeast on Boren Avenue to Jefferson Street.
