The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers of an upcoming traffic shift on eastbound Mercer Street scheduled for Thursday, February 6.
The morning of Thursday, February 6, traffic on eastbound Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue N and Dexter Avenue N will be shifted one lane north in order to facilitate construction activities on the south side of the roadway. Travelers can expect the following changes:
- Two eastbound lanes will be maintained on Mercer Street through the work zone.
- Pedestrians and bicyclists will be shifted from the south side of Mercer Street to a temporary asphalt path on the north side of Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue N and Dexter Avenue N. No pedestrian access will be allowed on the south side of Mercer Street. More information about pedestrian and bicycle access during construction can be found at: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/mercer_maps_detour.htm.
- This configuration will be in place for approximately four months as crews prepare to open Mercer Street to two-way traffic this spring.
For your safety, please follow detour routes and cross the roadway only at designated crossings.
