The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers of the following activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area:
Fifth Avenue North between Republican and Mercer streets will be fully closed to northbound traffic beginning the morning of Saturday, Jan. 18 at 4 a.m. through Monday, Jan. 20 at 5 a.m. to accommodate work on duct banks beneath the roadway. During the closure:
- Travelers heading north on Fifth Avenue North will be detoured to Fourth Avenue North and eastbound Mercer Street to reconnect with Fifth Avenue North at Mercer Street. More information about alternate routes may be found at: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/mercercorridor.htm.
- Police officers will be stationed at Fifth Avenue North and Republican Street, and Fourth Avenue North and Mercer Street to facilitate traffic flow.
- Travelers heading towards Queen Anne and the Seattle Center from I-5 or downtown should use eastbound Broad Street or Denny Way and First Avenue North as alternate routes.
- Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible.
The same closure will be in effect on Saturday, Jan. 25 through Monday, Jan. 27
