The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers of the following activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area:
Daytime lane restrictions on W Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue W and Fourth Avenue W: Wednesday, January 15
On Wednesday, January 15, the westbound lane of W Mercer Street will be restricted between Fourth Avenue W and Fifth Avenue W to accommodate asphalt paving. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic around the work zone. Work will occur during the day between approximately 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Nighttime closures of eastbound Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue N and Dexter Avenue N continue: January 20-23
The previously announced nighttime closures of eastbound Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue N and Dexter Avenue N will continue for an additional week during the evenings of Monday, January 20, through Thursday, January 23, to accommodate lateral storm water connections work which was delayed due to weather. Nighttime closures will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekday evenings. During this work, travelers can expect:
- Traffic on eastbound Mercer Street will be required to turn right on Fifth Avenue N and re-connect to eastbound Mercer Street via Harrison and eastbound Broad streets.
- Northbound and southbound Fifth Avenue N will remain open to traffic.
- Access to Mercer Street from southbound Fifth Avenue N will be via Harrison and eastbound Broad streets.
- The sidewalk on Mercer Street will also be closed between Fifth Avenue N and Dexter Avenue N. Pedestrians will be detoured to Broad Street.
Travelers should expect potential delays and use alternative routes when available.
Nighttime closure of eastbound Mercer Street between Dexter Avenue N and Ninth Avenue N: Thursday, January 23
On Thursday, January 23, Mercer Street will also be closed between Dexter Avenue N and Ninth Avenue N to facilitate roadway striping. Northbound and southbound traffic on Dexter Avenue N will be maintained at all times.
