The Seattle Department of Transportation reminds travelers that Fifth Avenue North will be closed the next two weekends in the Mercer Corridor Project area.
Saturday through Monday, Jan. 11 to 13, and Jan. 18 to 20:
Beginning at 4 a.m. on Saturday each weekend, through 5 a.m. Monday, northbound Fifth Avenue North between Republican and Mercer streets will be fully closed to traffic to accommodate duct bank work beneath the roadway. During the closure:
- Travelers heading north on Fifth Avenue North will be detoured to Fourth Avenue North and eastbound Mercer Street to reconnect with Fifth Avenue North at Mercer Street. More information about alternate routes may be found at: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/mercercorridor.htm.
- Police officers will be stationed at Fifth Avenue North and Republican Street, and Fourth Avenue North and Mercer Street to facilitate traffic flow.
- On Saturday, Jan. 11 only, the left lane of southbound Fifth Avenue North will be restricted between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 p.m. Left turns from southbound Fifth Avenue North onto eastbound Mercer Street will be permitted.
Travelers should plan ahead and use alternate routes.
