The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers of the following activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area:
Intermittent daytime lane closures on the I-5 on-ramps at Mercer Street: Tuesday, January 7 through Friday, January 10
Intermittent single lane closures on the I-5 on-ramps at Mercer Street will begin Tuesday, January 7, for approximately four days to accommodate hydroseeding along the median.
- Work will occur on the north side of the I-5 on-ramp with the far left lane on eastbound Mercer Street closed between Boren Avenue N and onto the I-5 on-ramps at Mercer Street. Two lanes onto the I-5 on-ramps will remain open at all times.
Work hours will be during off-peak travel times from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Two weekend closures of northbound Fifth Avenue N between Republican Street and Mercer Street in January
Northbound Fifth Avenue N between Republican and Mercer streets will be fully closed to traffic during the following weekends in January:
- January 11 – January 13
- January 18 – January 20
These closures are necessary to accommodate utility work beneath the roadway. Please note that work is weather dependent and may be cancelled and rescheduled for later dates if inclement weather occurs.
Weekend closure of northbound Fifth Avenue N: Saturday, January 11 through Monday, January 13
Beginning the morning of Saturday, January 11 at 4 a.m. through Monday, January 13 at 5 a.m., northbound Fifth Avenue N between Republican and Mercer streets will be fully closed to traffic. During the closure
- Travelers heading north on Fifth Avenue N will be detoured to Fourth Avenue N and eastbound Mercer Street to reconnect with Fifth Avenue N at Mercer Street
- Police officers will be stationed at Fifth Avenue N and Republican Street and at Fourth Avenue N and Mercer Street to facilitate traffic flow
- On Saturday, January 11, the left lane of southbound Fifth Avenue N will be restricted between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Travelers should plan ahead and use alternate routes
Weekend closure of northbound Fifth Avenue N: Saturday, January 18 through Monday, January 20
Beginning the morning of Saturday, January 18 at 4 a.m. through Monday, January 20 at 5 a.m., northbound Fifth Avenue N between Republican and Mercer streets will be fully closed to traffic. During the closure:
- Travelers heading north on Fifth Avenue N will be detoured to Fourth Avenue N and eastbound Mercer Street to reconnect with Fifth Avenue N at Mercer Street
- Police officers will be stationed at Fifth Avenue N and Republican Street and at Fourth Avenue N and Mercer Street to facilitate traffic flow
- Travelers should plan ahead and use alternate routes
