The intersection of South Jackson Street and Eighth Avenue South in the Chinatown/International District will have some turn restrictions from Nov. 8 until Nov. 24. During this period westbound drivers on South Jackson Street will not be able to turn left onto Eighth Avenue South and northbound drivers on Eighth Avenue South will not be able to turn left onto South Jackson Street. These turn restrictions are required for track construction on South Jackson Street for the First Hill Streetcar.
Westbound traffic on South Jackson Street intending to turn left on Eighth Avenue South will be directed to use the following detour: west on South Jackson Street to Seventh Avenue South; south on Seventh Avenue South to South King Street; and then east on South King Street to Eighth Avenue South.
Northbound traffic on Eighth Avenue South intending to turn left on South Jackson Street will be directed to turn left on South King Street then right on Seventh Avenue South, then left on South Jackson Street.
When complete, the First Hill Streetcar Line will have ten stations along a two and one-half mile route from South Jackson Street and Occidental Avenue South to Broadway and Denny Way. The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for mid- 2014. For further information, visit the project website at http://www.seattlestreetcar.org.
