Traffic at the intersection of Fourth Avenue S and S Jackson Street will be impacted this coming weekend for ongoing construction of the First Hill Streetcar. Beginning on Friday, October 25 at 7 p.m. and continuing until Sunday afternoon, October 27 at 4 p.m. the northbound travel lanes on Fourth Avenue S at S Jackson will be closed to through traffic.
The following detour will be provided:
Northbound motorists on Fourth Avenue S will be detoured shortly before reaching S Jackson Street onto northbound Second Avenue Extension S:
- Left onto S Jackson Street
- Right onto Second Avenue S
- Right onto S Main Street
- Left onto Fourth Avenue S
Eastbound traffic on S Jackson Street wishing to turn northbound onto Fourth Avenue S, will not be able to do so. Motorists will instead be directed on the following detour:
- Left onto Fifth Avenue S
- Left onto S Main Street
- Right onto northbound Fourth Avenue S
Through east/west traffic on S Jackson Street has been reduced to a single lane in each direction, but otherwise will not be impacted by this closure. Westbound motorists on S Jackson Street wishing to turn right to head northbound onto Fourth Avenue S will still be able to do so.
To view a map of the detour routes, please visit the project’s website, located at http://www.seattlestreetcar.org/firsthill.htm.
When complete, the First Hill Streetcar Line will have ten stations along a two and one-half mile route from South Jackson Street and Occidental Avenue South to Broadway and Denny Way. The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for mid-2014. For more information, please see the project website at http://www.seattlestreetcar.org/firsthill.htm
