The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) announces a full weekend closure of eastbound Mercer Street on October 25-28 for an emergency sewer repair at Eighth Avenue N.
Eastbound Mercer Street full weekend closure: Friday, October 25 through Monday, October 28
On Friday, October 25, Seattle Public Utilities and Mercer Corridor Project crews will work to perform emergency sewer line repairs near Eighth Avenue N and Mercer Street. Due to the sewer line’s position beneath the roadway, eastbound Mercer Street will be fully closed during this work. The closure will begin on Friday, October 25 at 11:59 p.m. to Monday, October 28 at 5:00 a.m. During the closure:
- Eastbound Mercer Street will be fully closed to traffic between Fifth Avenue N and Ninth Avenue N. Travelers heading east from Fifth Avenue N should take Harrison Street to eastbound Broad Street to re-connect with Mercer Street. More information about alternate routes during construction may be found at: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/mercercorridor.htm.
- Westbound Mercer Street, Broad Street, SR 99 and the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer Street will remain open during the weekend work.
Early warning signs will be advising motorists in advance of Mercer Street lane restrictions. Travelers can expect significant traffic and delays and should plan ahead and use alternate routes. Please note, the Puget Sound Heart and Stroke walk will take place Saturday, October 26 with associated street closures near the Seattle Center campus between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.
