Traffic at the intersection of Fourth Avenue South and South Jackson Street will be constricted this coming weekend for ongoing construction of the First Hill Streetcar. Saturday, Oct. 12, from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m., and again on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. northbound traffic on Fourth Avenue South will be reduced to a single lane. East/west traffic on S Jackson Street will be reduced to a single lane in each direction during this same period.
Motorists should expect congestion and may wish to consider alternate routes. No detour routes have been established for this work.
When complete, the First Hill Streetcar will have ten stations along a two and one-half mile route from S Jackson Street and Occidental Avenue S to Broadway Avenue and Denny Way. The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for mid-2014. For further information, visit the project website at http://www.seattlestreetcar.org/firsthill.htm.
