There will be two partial intersection closures on Broadway, one at East Pike Street and one at East Union Street, on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29 from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. These closures are required for roadway restoration associated with the First Hill Streetcar project. Broadway will remain open to north- and southbound traffic but eastbound turns from Broadway to East Pike Street and to East Union Street will not be permitted. Westbound traffic through Broadway on East Pike Street and East Union Street will not be permitted, and eastbound traffic on East Pike Street and East Union Street will be required to make a turn at Broadway.
The following detours will be provided:
Westbound traffic on East Pike Street and East Union Street will be directed:
- North on 12th Avenue to East Pine Street;
- West on East Pine Street to Broadway;
- South on Broadway to East Pike Street and East Union Street.
Eastbound traffic on East Pike Street and East Union Street will be directed:
- South on Broadway to East Madison Street;
- Northeast on East Madison Street to 12th Avenue;
- North on 12th Avenue to East Union Street and East Pike Street.

When complete, the First Hill Streetcar line will have ten stations along a two and one-half mile route from South Jackson Street and Occidental Avenue South to Broadway and Denny Way. The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan.
