The Seattle Department of Transportation will close the northbound exit ramp from I-5 for Northeast 130th Street next week on Tuesday and Wednesday nights between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The closure is needed on these two nights to completely repave the intersection of Northeast 130th Street and Fifth Avenue Northeast. Paving of the arterial route east of the intersection along Roosevelt Way Northeast and Northeast 125th Street to 23rd Avenue Northeast will also begin Tuesday, Sept. 3, and will be completed by Friday night.
One lane of traffic in each direction will be allowed on Northeast 125th Street even during this nighttime paving, but drivers will be asked to avoid crossing newly laid asphalt when possible.
The project is expected to finish in late September, as originally planned, with the paving of Sand Point Way Northeast between Northeast 110th and Northeast 93rd streets. The work is largely funded by the Bridging the Gap transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
