The intersection of Boren Avenue South and South Jackson Street in the Little Saigon Neighborhood will be partially closed to traffic on the weekends of August 16-19 and 23-26. The closure is required for roadway excavation and track installation for the First Hill Streetcar. Work on those weekends will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday evening and continue until 6 a.m. the following Monday morning.
Traffic through these intersections will be directed to use the following detours:
Southbound traffic on Boren Avenue South will be directed to use 12th Avenue South, South Jackson Street and Rainier Avenue South.
Northbound traffic on Rainier Avenue South will be directed to use 14th Avenue South, Yesler Way and Boren Avenue South.
Westbound traffic on South Jackson Street will be directed to use 14th Avenue South, Yesler Way, 12th Avenue South and S Jackson Street.
To view a map of the detour routes visit the project’s website.
When complete, the First Hill Streetcar line will have ten stations along a two and one-half mile route from South Jackson Street and Occidental Avenue South to Broadway and Denny Way. The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for mid- 2014. For further information, visit the project Website at www.seattlestreetcar.org.
