The intersection of South Jackson Street and Eighth Avenue South in the Chinatown/International District will be partially closed during the weekends of August 3 and August 10 for construction of the First Hill Streetcar. The south leg of the intersection will be closed, so that South Jackson Street will be open to east and westbound traffic but southbound turns from South Jackson Street to Eighth Avenue South will not be permitted. These closures will be in place on:
- Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.
- Saturday morning, August 10 at 7 a.m. and continuing until Sunday evening, August 11 at 7 p.m.
Local access, pedestrian access, and access to businesses will be maintained during this work.
When complete, the First Hill Streetcar line will have ten stations along a two and one-half mile route from South Jackson Street and Occidental Avenue South to Broadway and Denny Way. The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for mid- 2014. For further information, visit the project Website at www.seattlestreetcar.org.
