King County Wastewater Treatment Division’s contractor will begin work at the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue Northeast and Northeast Ravenna Boulevard on July 29; this work may continue during for up to a month. This work is needed to remove a large cast iron gate from the system. This gate was installed in the late 1950’s during an emergency construction project to repair a failed sewer line in the area. The gate has not been used since that time and is at the end of its service life. It is being removed to reduce the potential for future problems in the sewer system.
This work will result in a very short merging of bikes with the main flow of traffic at the intersection. Bicycle traffic will not be disrupted, but bicyclists should travel slowly through the area and watch for barriers, signs and flaggers.
