This week a contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation began a paving project on Sand Point Way Northeast and also on Northeast 125th Street. Beginning Monday, June 17, the same closure will be in place on Sand Point Way from Northeast 125th Street to Northeast 110th Street, but continuously, 24/7. Also, the same detour route for Sand Point Way will remain in place, starting on Northeast 125th Street and turning south on 35th Avenue Northeast, returning to Sand Point Way at 110th. This closure will remain in place for approximately three more weeks.
The contractor also continues work on Northeast 125th between 23rd Avenue Northeast and 40th Avenue Northeast. At least one lane of traffic will remain open for each direction of traffic, with bicycles sharing the road in places with general traffic, for about five more weeks.
Drivers are asked to allow extra time, slow down, and use extra caution in the work zones.
SDOT will send out traffic updates as the work progresses. To sign up to receive project notices by e-mail, please send requests to art.brochet@seattle.gov.
