Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, May 3 and continuing until 6 a.m. on Monday morning, May 6, the intersection of South Jackson Street and Second Avenue South in Pioneer Square will be closed to traffic to facilitate track construction for the First Hill Streetcar.
Local access, pedestrian access, and access to businesses will be maintained during this work.
For the closure of the Second and Jackson intersection, the following streets will be used:
- Eastbound Jackson will be directed to First Avenue South, Yesler Way and Second Avenue Extension South
- Westbound Jackson will be directed to Fourth Avenue South, Prefontaine Place South, Yesler Way and First Avenue South.
- North- and Southbound Second Avenue South will be directed to First Avenue South or Second Avenue Extension South.
The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for spring 2014.
