The expected sunny weather and schedule of festivities should make for a great weekend ahead in Seattle. Saturday morning streets will be closed to traffic from the Seattle Center through Belltown, into downtown and back to the center grounds as 4,000 people take part in the annual March of Dimes for Babies. Also Saturday morning, the Ship Canal will come alive with the Windermere Cup and the Opening Day of Boating Season Boat Parade which will require the closure of the Montlake Bridge from 9:20 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Meanwhile on Saturday, the Fiesta 5K Ole may cause some traffic congestion as runners race along Capitol Hill streets starting and ending up in Volunteer Park where there will be a celebration featuring a margarita garden, a “Taco Truck Challenge” and live music. The annual two-day Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Tacos Guaymas at Green Lake may also make for congestion in the surrounding area on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, thousands are expected to flock to the Mobile Food Rodeo, a food truck festival which will close part of 35th Avenue N in Fremont.
