The annual Immigrants Rights March takes place tomorrow, May 1, on International Workers’ Day. Starting at 3 p.m., the Seattle Police Department will escort an expected 3,000 participants from St. Mary’s Church in the Central District to the Federal Building in downtown Seattle.
The march route starts at the church located at 20th Avenue S and S Lane Street; heads north on 20th; west on S Jackson Street; south on 12th Ave S; west on King Street; north on Fifth Avenue S; west on Jackson Street; north on Fourth Avenue; west on Pike; south on Second Avenue to a rally in front of the Federal Building between Madison and Marion streets.
Motorists can expect heavy congestion along the march route. The streets on the route will be closed and reopen as the marchers pass by with all roadways expected to be reopened by 6 p.m.
