Two blocks of Elliott Avenue near the Olympic Sculpture Park, from Broad to Cedar streets, will be closed on Sunday, April 28, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Clay Street, between Broad and Cedar, will remain open, and sidewalks on the west side of Elliott will remain open.
Traffic on Elliott will be detoured at Broad Street to Alaskan Way and will be able to return to Elliott Avenue at Vine Street. Drivers headed for the southbound lanes of the Alaskan Way Viaduct will be able to access the southbound on-ramps once they return to Elliott Avenue at Vine Street.
This closure is required to safely take down a tower crane that was used for work on a private development, and is coordinated with the closure of Alaskan Way further to the south, also planned for this weekend. This work is being done now to avoid greater traffic impacts when waterfront activities increase following Memorial Day.
