Four street closures will take place during the next two weeks in the Chinatown/International District and Yesler Terrace neighborhood for the First Hill Streetcar construction project. Local access, pedestrian access and access to businesses will be maintained during this work.
April 12 to April 15: The intersection of 12th Avenue and Yesler Way will be closed beginning Friday evening, April 12 at 7 p.m. and continuing until Monday morning, April 15 at 6 a.m. Signed detours will be in place to assist drivers traveling through this intersection.
April 13 to April 20: Beginning Saturday, April 13 the south leg of the intersection of South Jackson Street and Maynard Avenue South will be temporarily closed. The closure will be in place 24 hours a day and will reopen the morning of April 20. Jackson will be open to east- and westbound traffic but southbound turns to Maynard Avenue South will not be permitted.
April 15 to April 20: There will be a closure of northbound 14th Avenue South between South Main Street and East Yesler Way from April 15 to April 20. Northbound traffic on 14th Avenue South will be directed at South Jackson Street to a detour utilizing Boren Avenue, 12th Avenue and Yesler Way.
April 20 to April 22: The north leg of the intersection of South Jackson Street and Fifth Avenue South will be temporarily closed to traffic. The closure will be in two shifts. The first shift will be on Saturday, April 20 from 3 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the same day. The second shift will begin on Sunday morning, April 21 at 3 a.m. and continue until Monday morning, April 22 at 3 a.m. Jackson will be open to east- and westbound traffic but northbound turns to Fifth Avenue South will not be permitted.
The city of Seattle is developing the first Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for spring 2014.
