Saturday, January 12, there will be three very different events at the Seattle Center ranging from snow activities including a sold-out snowball fight and a Seattle University Basketball game, to an operatic Cinderella. Taking place at overlapping times, the events are expected to draw a combined attendance of nearly 13,000 people. On Sunday afternoon, the Washington CeaseFire organization is sponsoring the StandUp Washington march which encourages people to “turn anger into action” and call for a ban on semi-automatic weapons in Washington State. The Stand Up Washington march with over 1,000 participants, could slow traffic through downtown as it moves north from Westlake Park to the Seattle Center.
The Seattle Department of Transportation urges motorists to consider leaving their cars at home and reduce their impact on the environment by traveling via one of the many alternate modes of transportation available – bus, carpool, Metro Transit, the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, bicycle or even walking, if feasible.
