The Seattle Department of Transportation advises travelers of activities in the Mercer Corridor Project area beginning Sunday, November 25:
Seattle Marathon going through Mercer Corridor Project area on Sunday, November 25:
On Sunday, November 25, the Seattle Marathon will go through the Mercer Corridor Project area with temporary lane closures occurring during the race, including:
- Republican Street from Eastlake Avenue E to Dexter Avenue N
- Fairview Avenue N from Harrison Street to Mercer Street
Lane restrictions will occur from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Local access will be allowed on one side of the street only. Officers from the Seattle Police Department will be positioned to monitor road closures and facilitate traffic flow. Mercer Street lane restriction the evening of Monday, November 26 followed by Fairview Avenue N traffic switch:
In preparation for switching northbound Fairview Avenue N traffic onto the east side of the roadway between Mercer Street and Harrison Street, crews will restrict two lanes on Mercer Street between Boren Avenue N and Fairview Avenue N beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, to adjust traffic signals. Officers from the Seattle Police Department will be onsite at the intersection of Mercer Street and Fairview Avenue N to facilitate traffic flow.
Immediately following the traffic signal adjustment at the intersection of Mercer Street and Fairview Avenue N, northbound traffic on Fairview Avenue N will be shifted from the west side of the street to the east side as crews complete utility installation, install streetlights and rebuild the roadway and sidewalks between Mercer Street and Harrison Street. Access to businesses and driveways on the west side of Fairview will be maintained during this work.
Please note, the crosswalk at Fairview Avenue N and Republican Street will remain open to east/west pedestrian traffic as much as possible during construction. If a closure of the crosswalk is necessary in order to maintain safety, advanced notice will be given.
Construction on Fairview Avenue N is anticipated to be complete in February 2013.
Temporary lane restrictions on Ninth Avenue N and Valley Street beginning Thursday, November 29:
Temporary lane restrictions will occur on Ninth Avenue N and Valley Street beginning November 29th through mid-December to accommodate removal of overhead transmission lines and poles. Closures will occur intermittently as follows:
- On weekdays during non-peak traffic hours, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Ninth Avenue N and Valley Street
- During the evenings of December 3rd – 5th from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Valley Street between Westlake Avenue N and Fairview Avenue N
During these lane restrictions, traffic will be routed around the work zone and uniformed police officers will be onsite at affected intersections to facilitate traffic flow.
