November 16 – 19
This weekend there will be a full closure of the intersection of Airport Way S and S Lucile Street. The closure is needed for asphalt paving which is part of the Airport Way South Viaduct rehabilitation project. The intersection will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 16, and remain closed until Monday, November 19 at 5 a.m. A signed detour will direct traffic via Corson Avenue S, S Michigan Street and Fourth Avenue S. Local access, pedestrian access, and access to all businesses will be maintained during this work.
The Seattle Department of Transportation has been making significant improvements to the Airport Way South Viaduct is funded by the city’s Bridging the Gap voter-approved transportation initiative. The work includes replacement of the north and south approaches and seismic retrofitting. The project is currently on schedule and expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
