Today marks the end of eastbound detours on N 85th Street as a part of the year-long N/NW 85th Street and Greenwood Avenue N Paving projects. After the morning commute, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will reopen N 85th Street between Aurora Avenue N and Wallingford Avenue N to eastbound traffic; all lanes are expected to be open by midday. Metro bus riders have also returned to regular stop locations and routes on N 85th Street today.
Following the reopening of N 85th Street, city crews will restore the detour route on N 80th Street back to its original configuration between Linden Avenue N and Burke Avenue N. This work was scheduled for this weekend but has been cancelled due to rain; the work is tentatively being rescheduled for the weekend of October 20-21 (weather permitting). Temporary traffic and parking changes have been in effect on N 80th Street to assist with eastbound detour traffic from N 85th Street.
While the project is mostly complete, active construction on N/NW 85th Street will continue through the end of October with some minor work activities continuing into the fall.
