Beginning Monday, September 24th and continuing nightly until Friday, October 5th, Broadway between Madison and Marion streets will be closed, or reduced to one lane with flaggers facilitating two-way traffic, to aid construction of the First Hill Streetcar. This work has been rescheduled from its original start date this week. Full closures are anticipated during the first five nights. When fully closed, detours will be posted using Madison Street, Boren Street, and James Street for southbound traffic, and James Street, 12th Avenue and Madison Street for northbound traffic. Work will begin each night at 8 p.m. and continue until 6 a.m. the next morning.
Local access, pedestrian access, and access to businesses will be maintained during this work.
The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan. Completion is planned for spring 2014.
