Linden Avenue North will be closed to southbound traffic between N 130th and N 145th streets starting Wednesday, September 5, for approximately six months. Currently, the street is closed to southbound traffic from N 135th to N 145th streets and closed to all traffic between N 128th and N 130th streets. As crews reconstruct Linden Avenue N all the way from N 128th Street to N 145th Street into a Complete Street, the closures will be as follows:
- N 128th -N 130th – full closure until early October
- N 130th – N 135th – no southbound traffic until early March
- N 135th – N 141st – no southbound traffic during weekdays until early December
- N 141st – N 145th – no southbound traffic until early November
Southbound traffic will continue to be detoured around the work area by way of Aurora and Greenwood avenues. Southbound bicyclists are to follow the same southbound detours as motor vehicles, though they may also utilize sidewalks, yielding to pedestrians.
Crews are working in multiple locations to take advantage of dry summer weather conditions and complete the project as quickly as possible. In instances where work is completed earlier than expected or when work temporarily shifts to another area, crews will re-open those segments of roadway and place signs accordingly to direct traffic. The entire project is expected to be complete in the summer of 2013.
The Linden Avenue North Complete Street Project includes a new drainage system, added street and pedestrian lighting, curbs and gutters, sidewalks and curb ramps, buffered bicycle lanes and an infrared pedestrian detection crossing near the Bitter lake Community Center.
