Motorists should Plan Ahead to Avoid Delays
Tomorrow, Thursday, August 30, at 1 p.m., human rights activists will mark the 2nd Annual Anniversary and Rally for John T Williams by gathering at the intersection of Boren and Howell where they will then march to the Seattle Center Grounds, stopping on the way at the Federal Courthouse.
Tomorrow night, 50,000 football fans will be cheering on the Seahawks against the Oakland Raiders at CenturyLink Field. Friday, the three-day PAX Expo gamer convention gets under way at the Washington State Convention Center with an expected attendance of 20,000 each day. In the evening the Mariners take on the Los Angeles Angels before a crowd of 22,000 at Safeco Field. The three-day Labor Day weekend gets into gear on Saturday with Seattle’s Annual Bumbershoot Festival offering a wide range of music and arts at the Seattle Center with no less than 50,000 attendees per day. Also on Saturday, supported by a crowd of 60,000 Dawg fans, the Huskies will battle the San Diego State Aztecs at CenturyLink Field. The Seattle Mariners will also play the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday and Sunday and the Boston Red Sox on Monday.
The Seattle Department of Transportation urges motorists to help reduce air pollution and traffic congestion by trying out one of the many alternate modes of transportation available – Metro Transit, the West Seattle Water Taxi, the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, car pool, bicycle or walk, if feasible.
