Requires three overnight closures of Elliott Avenue W
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will close both directions of Elliott Avenue W between Fourth Avenue W and Western Avenue W overnight for three consecutive nights starting tonight, August 28-30. The closures, which will be to all traffic including vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians, will allow crews to remove the temporary false work that was needed to build the new West Thomas Street pedestrian and bicycle overpass, complete street restoration, and to paint the bridge spans over Elliott Ave W.
Each night (August 28, 29, 30), crews will begin closing the northbound lanes on Elliott Avenue W starting at 6 p.m. with the full closure of the north and southbound lanes taking effect at 11 p.m. On each of the following mornings, Elliott Avenue W will reopen to traffic at 5 a.m.
Detour Routes for Closures
Detour routes are as follows (see attached map):
- Northbound drivers on Elliott Avenue W will turn right onto Western Avenue, turn left onto First Avenue W, turn left onto W Harrison Street, and turn right onto Elliott Avenue W to continue traveling northbound.
- Northbound drivers on Western Avenue will turn right onto Second Avenue W, turn left onto W Harrison Street, and then turn right onto Elliott Avenue West to continue traveling northbound.
