SDOT crews plan to close a northbound lane of the Ballard Bridge tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. to continue working during off-peak traffic hours on upgrading the lighting on the bridge. When the bridge opens for marine traffic at the same time that a lane is closed, significant backups may occur. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their trips, or when possible, take an alternate route.
The crews expect to complete work on the lighting upgrades by the first of October.
The Ballard Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project has begun, but will not affect traffic across the bridge in the near future. The retrofit work—a Bridging the Gap project—is largely being done from below to minimize traffic impacts.
