Next week a contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation will begin closing a sidewalk and narrowing lanes on Queen Anne Drive between Nob Hill Avenue N and Second Avenue N during the day for painting the bridge.
Beginning Monday, August 13, and lasting through the month, SDOT’s contractor will close the north side sidewalk and a portion of the adjacent roadway. The closures will be Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Both eastbound and westbound lanes will remain open, but reduced in width, and the south side sidewalk will remain open. Both lanes and sidewalks will be fully reopened daily after 4:00 p.m. and will remain fully reopened through the weekends.
Periodic painting of the steel portions of the bridge helps to reduce corrosion and lengthens the useful lifetime of the structure.
