Linden Avenue North, between North 128th and North 130th streets will be closed intermittently to all traffic starting Aug. 8 as crews install a new storm drainage system in the center roadway, construct curbs and gutters, and complete grinding and paving. Linden Avenue North is already closed to southbound traffic between North 135th and North145th streets. This work is part of the Seattle Department of Transportation’s (SDOT) redevelopment of Linden Avenue North into a safe, neighborhood friendly roadway.
Local access to businesses and residential buildings will be maintained and lanes will open intermittently when crews are not working in the center roadway. The closures will continue until late September or early October, followed by one lane of northbound travel through mid-November to complete construction of sidewalks and landscaping.
The east sidewalk will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists traveling northbound. Vehicles traveling through the area, as well as southbound pedestrians and bicyclists, will be detoured onto North 128th or North 130th streets then onto Aurora or Fremont avenues to circumvent construction.
SDOT crews will also continue working at the north end of the project area, between North 135th and North 145th streets to complete paving, grinding, landscaping and construction of sidewalks. Southbound traffic will remain detoured as follows:
- East on North 145th Street; south on Aurora Avenue North; west on North 135th Street to Linden Avenue North
- West on North 145th Street; south on Greenwood Avenue North; and east on North 130th Street to Linden Avenue North
Pedestrians, cyclists and motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the work zone and expect:
- Frequent lane closures, traffic delays
- Gravel pathways, grooved pavement and loose asphalt,
- Raised utility castings and man holes in the street
- Increased construction truck traffic
