Pine Street will be closed this weekend to eastbound and westbound traffic at Broadway in the Capitol Hill Neighborhood to facilitate construction of the First Hill Streetcar. This closure will begin at 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 14th and continue until Monday, July 16th at 3 a.m. North and south travel on Broadway will have a reduced number of lanes but will not be closed.
Detours will be posted and will utilize Bellevue, Pike and 12th Avenue. Northbound traffic on Broadway may turn right at Pine Street. Southbound drivers on Broadway will have no turn options at Pine Street. Local access, pedestrian access, and access to businesses will be maintained during the work.
Track construction on Broadway between Howell Street and Pine Street has been scheduled this summer to accomplish the highest impact work during the summer term at Seattle Central Community College. This project began in April of this year and is expected to be completed in spring 2014
The City of Seattle is developing the First Hill Streetcar in partnership with Sound Transit, with funding provided through the 2008 voter-approved Sound Transit 2 (ST2) transit expansion plan.
