On Thursday and Friday, June 21 and 22, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will close the right curb lane northbound on Alaskan Way directly across from the Seattle Aquarium in order to restore a City Light utility cut. The closure on Thursday, from 9 to 11 a.m., will involve removing a large metal plate, backfilling the cut area, and then replacing the plate. On Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the SDOT crew will remove the plate again and pave over the cut with a quick-setting asphalt mix. At a later date, when a longer closure can take place, SDOT will permanently restore the road surface at that location.
