The coming weekend, June 8 – 10, offers up a variety of events throughout Seattle including races, baseball games, festivals, parades, University of Washington and Seattle University and Seattle Pacific University graduation ceremonies and more. The traffic is expected to be particularly ugly on Saturday in the SODO area when the University of Washington holds its graduation ceremonies at CenturyLink Field with gates opening at 12 noon and the ceremonies wrapping up around 4:30 p.m. or later and the Seattle Mariners taking on the LA Dodgers next door at Safeco Field starting at 4:15 p.m. Parking has been reserved for the use of Mariners baseball fans only at four nearby garages; advise from the Mariners’ headquarters is that Saturday’s game attendees pre-purchase their parking. For more details on these events and other weekend activities, please see the schedule below.
The Seattle Department of Transportation encourages motorists headed to any of the weekend events to help reduce traffic congestion by taking one of the many alternate modes of transportation available – Metro Transit, the West Seattle Water Taxi, the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, car pool, bicycle or walk, if feasible.
