This coming weekend, June 1-3, there will be a variety of activities to choose from in communities throughout the city. Coming up on Friday and Saturday, there are Honk (music) Fests in Georgetown and at Gas Works Park respectively. On Saturday, the University of Washington will hold the “Oath and Hooding” Ceremony for its 63rd class to receive Doctor of Medicine degrees. Also, late in the afternoon on Saturday, over 900 bicyclists will vie for top awards in the Second Ascent Ballard Criterium which follows a four block rectangular race route in Ballard. Sunday morning, 15,000 walkers and runners will take part in the 2012 Komen Puget Sound Race for a Cure. The one mile and 5K routes will be closed to traffic with signed detours in place. Motorists will park near the southwest end of the pavilion on Montlake Boulevard.
Traffic may be congested along Montlake, at the Montlake Bridge and on Pacific Avenue, especially before and after the ceremony.
Honk! Fest West – Gas Works Park: 12 Noon – 6 p.m.
Gas Works Park

Expect congestion in the area surrounding the park.
Second Ascent Ballard Criterium: 3:30 p.m.

Streets closed in a rectangular race route from 2 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Ballard Avenue NW, NW Dock Place, Shilshole Avenue NW, and NW Vernon Place
Sunday, June 3
2012 Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure: Walks and Runs leave from 8 – 9:15 a.m.
Gather at Mercer Street and Third Avenue N

Streets to be closed to traffic from 8 – 11:
5K route: Leave Mercer Street at Third Avenue N heading east on Mercer to Fifth Avenue N; then south on Fifth to Cedar Street; west on Cedar to Second Avenue; south on Second to Spring Street; u-turn at Spring and then north on Second Avenue to Thomas Street.
1 mile route: Leave Mercer Street at Third Avenue N heading east on Mercer to Fifth Avenue N; then south on Fifth to Cedar Street; west on Cedar to Second Avenue; then north on Second to Thomas Street.
Motorists should plan on congestion along the walk and run route and will follow signed detours.
